An Historic Paddle on the Delaware River
Paddle either or both days. Films are included. Stay overnight or not.
In 1677, the Quakers bought from the Lenape the land between Assunpink Creek (Trenton) and Rancocas Creek. This paddle is nearly that entire distance and it’s on the tidal section of the Delaware. Lenape Chief Ockanickon, a friend to the Quakers, is buried in the property’s graveyard.

- Paddle Bordentown to Burlington (10 miles) launching from Bordentown Beach https://goo.gl/maps/MqpjayvxDBT2 at the river end of W Park St. You do not need a launch permit. Bordentown has given us a pass. There are porta-potties. Arrive at 8 am for unload, check-in, meet-n-greet and safety talk. Launch at 9 am.
- Visit Pennsbury Manor, the reconstructed home of William Penn on the Delaware. Listen to talk by its Director Doug Miller. William Penn came to a colony that had already had three generations of interaction between Native Peoples and colonial settlers. Some of the interactions included bloody conflict. Explore how Penn’s vision and Quaker values and the Lenape’s willingness to welcome and partner with him brought about Pennsylvania. There are bathrooms.
- Take out at Burlington Boat Ramp. There are porta-potties.
- Take the RiverLINE light rail train back to your car* A green shuttle! We’ll walk you there. Bring some water and snacks for the trip.
- Staying overnight? Store your boat in a warehouse across from the take-out/next day’s put-in

Watch The Paddling Film Festival at 7 pm. We will start on time as there is much to see. Doors open at 6:15 pm.

- Paddle Burlington to Rancocas (9 miles), launching from Burlington Boat Ramp https://goo.gl/maps/TKnLEpqjE9D2 near the intersection of E. Pearl St. and Latham. You do not need a launch permit. Burlington has given us a pass. There are porta-potties. Please don’t park in the boat trailer spots unless you have a boat trailer. You may also park on the other side of the basketball courts and along E. Pearl St. Arrive at 9 am for unload, check-in, meet-n-greet and safety talk. Launch at 10 am.
- Stop at Neshaminy State Park for talk by Ray Robson of Coast Guard Auxiliary 17-01, Bristol, about the aids to navigation in the tidal Delaware, and 1 other talk. There are bathrooms.
- Lunch at Penn Ryn Delaware Access. There are bathrooms.
- Take out at Hawks Island Marina. There are bathrooms.
- Take the RiverLINE light rail train back to your car* A green shuttle! We’ll walk you there. Bring some water and snacks for the trip.

Requirements to Paddle
- It may not be your first time paddling a kayak. Realize that a 10-mile paddle may take 4 hours. There may be boat wake, wind and waves.

- Wear your PFD while on the water. Inflatable life jackets are not acceptable. No exceptions to either**
- Help move your boat and at least one other person’s boat at both put-ins and take-outs

BYO drinks, snacks and lunch, the food being non-perishable if you are paddling both days. If you want to bring your gear back on the RiverLINE, bring a dufflebag. You can leave your gear with your boats while you shuttle, however. We’ll be watching them. *RiverLINE not included. $1.60/trip, $.75 for seniors. Payment methods include Cash, Credit and Debit.

Bring the gear you want to unload and cash for what you want to buy.
Overnight
BYO sheets, pillows, blankets, towels, toiletries and perhaps some earplugs. BYO non-perishable breakfast. REFRIGERATOR WILL BE ON. We will supply coffee, hot water.
Rain, Refunds
We paddle in the rain.
If the rain is heavy, we might have a delayed start.
If there is thunder, we may have a delayed start or long lunch, etc.
If it’s raining during the Swap Meet, we will hold it in the basement.
